Water…the Key to Healthy Living
This week, Sabrina strapped on her Empower 8LB weighted vest and showed us a strength workout! Even if you are trying to lose inches you should be incorporating strength workouts into your routine. They burn more calories and put muscle on your body, which also helps boost your metabolism.
Maybe your body isn’t ready for a full-strength workout today. You can always put on your vest and burn some calories while you do chores around the house! Always listen to your body. When you need to rest, do it!
Part II of our Wellness Series covered the importance of staying hydrated. Did you know that our bodies are made up of 80% water? Water is vital and it helps our body function, from the nervous system to circulation, digestion, and everything in between. Would you like to have glowing skin, more energy, a better mood, and even drop a few pounds? The simple habit of drinking enough water every day could be the solution to all your problems! Clean, wonderful water is an easy, inexpensive way to treat your body right inside and out.
So how do you know if you are drinking the right amount of water every day? Try drinking at least half of your body weight in ounces!
Here is how staying hydrated benefits your body and overall well being:
- • Boosts Your Metabolism
- • Improves Muscle Tone
- • Improves Digestion
- • Prevents Fatigue
- • Improves Joint Health
- • Supports Detoxification
- • Relieves Constipation
Our bodies are made up of organ systems that are all largely supported by water. When we deprive our bodies of water, they do not function as they should. Since all of our organs are connected, our entire body will feel the negative repercussions.
Here are some signs that you aren’t consuming enough H20:
- • Fatigue
- • Premature Aging / Wrinkles
- • Anxiety
- • Headaches
- • Dizziness
- • Dry irritated eyes or excess watery eyes
- • Dry Lips
- • Concentrated Urine (your urine should be clear!)
It’s important to note that the appropriate amount of water we all need varies greatly depending on the person, environment and activity level.
For all the people who may dislike the taste of water or struggle to get enough here are some tips to make it easier to enjoy:
- • Carry a water bottle with you all day
- • Drink 1 big glass immediately after waking up
- • Drink 1 big glass before each meal
- • Drink 1 glass every hour on the hour while at work
- • Add a splash of juice
- • Use frozen wedges of lemons or limes as ice cubes!
- • Try unsweetened seltzer or soda water
- • Drink decaf tea/coffee instead of regular
- • Try hot water with a drop of honey instead of tea/coffee
- • Drink with a straw
Take charge of your health and stay hydrated! It is so important we maintain hydration especially when we are being active and working out to reach our health goals.
