Small Changes BIG results
Our job at Empower is to provide you the tools and motivation to achieve the lifestyle you want. That’s why this awesome, no-equipment kitchen workout is designed to inspire you to find time to work out on your schedule. Squeeze in moves while you wait for the water to boil or practice a proper squat each time you reach down to the bottom cabinet. However you choose to move, make your time work for you!
Getting healthier isn’t achieved through a short-term diet or commitment. It’s accomplished and sustained through a new, long-term lifestyle. We put together this 6-week Wellness Series in hopes of creating a community full of strong women who motivate each other to take the necessary steps to achieve a healthier lifestyle.
In addition to introducing movement to your routine, Donna has 4 simple steps to implementing positive change in your life. Catch her full presentation of small lifestyle changes that equal BIG results here and check out the key highlights below:
Step 1) Where are you now?
Always start with positives, such as what you love about yourself. Think of 5 things that you currently love about yourself and then think of 5 things you would love to see change. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you will keep getting the same results!
Step 2) Where do you want to go?
Look out over a year and see where you want to be. Having goals is an important part of achieving results. Whether it be weight loss, stress, or just your overall health, you will not see changes overnight!
Step 3) Why do you want to change?
Identifying your “why” is one of the most important steps in your wellness journey. This is your opportunity to truly understand why you want to change your habits. Yes, most people would agree they want to lose weight to look better, but for most, that is not enough of a motivating factor. Choose a “why” with a higher meaning to you. A “why” that gets you out of bed, pushes you to choose the healthy option over the fast-food burger, that’s the “why” that will keep you motivated on this journey.
Here are a few “my why” examples:
a. To live my life pain-free.
b. To spend my retirement traveling the world like I always dreamed.
c. To be there to watch my grandchildren grow up.
Step 4) Write your roadmap
There is a reason change doesn’t take place overnight. If it was easy everyone would do it! Real change takes time. It is best to create a roadmap outlining the steps that will get you to your goal. Start with one small change. Once that has become a consistent part of your lifestyle, you can introduce something new.
