Take a quick 10 minute walk each day for a week – you can burn up to 300 calories! Can’t get outside? Skipping the elevator and doing 30 stairs a day also burns up to 300 calories in a week. Join our Stand Up Campaign by walking in place during commercials of your favorite TV show. You can get in 9 minutes of walking during a 30-minute show.
Increase the pace! Increasing your pace just 2 mph can double your caloric burn. So speed walk or jog to increase your burn this week!
Empower Get Fit Tip #2
Want to look and feel better? Add strength training 2-3 times per week to enjoy the benefits of a faster metabolism, toned muscles, and a stronger core!
Do 30 seconds of each of these strength exercises 3 times a week!
Increase to 1 minute for each exercise and add 30 seconds of crunches between each exercise to really work your core! Increase the frequency to 5 times per week.

Add Yoga into your Get Fit routine with the Warrior II pose to strengthen and stretch your legs, hips, and chest. You’ll improve circulation and energize your entire body!
If the pose is too advanced at first, simply place your hands on your hips until you’ve mastered it.
Empower Get Fit Tip #4!
Sometimes a small change can make a BIG difference! Did you know if you replace one sweetened beverage like soda every day with a glass of water you can decrease your caloric intake by more than 1,000 calories in just one week? Add a twist of lemon or a few fresh mint leaves. Freeze clementine slices or pineapple chucks and use them as ice cubes! Get creative!

As kids, we rode our bikes, jumped rope, hula hooped! This week, get outside and rediscover your youth! Just 15 minutes of biking, jumping rope, or skipfitting can burn between 152 and 198 calories. What’s skipfitting? Check it out!

Our final week of Get Fit for Summer is all about recovery! Stretching alone won’t give you the relief you’re looking for. Try some self massage with a massage stick or foam roller to relieve knots and improve muscle function. You’ll be shocked by how great you will feel!
